Job summary

Cadogan Clinic in Chelsea, London is seeking an experienced Ambulatory Nurse to join our theatre and ambulatory ward team, supporting plastic surgery and perioperative care across three state-of-the-art operating theatres.

The role includes leading the ambulatory nursing team, coordinating rotas and on-call shifts, upholding infection control and governance standards, and mentoring staff to deliver safe, patient-centred care from pre- to post‑operative stages.

Qualifications

• Must be NMC-registered nurse or ODP with theatre/perioperative experience.
• Senior theatre/anaesthetic experience (Band 6 or higher).
• Proven leadership and people-management skills.
• Strong knowledge of pre- and post-operative care, theatre protocols and patient safety.
• Ability to mentor, supervise, and develop clinical teams.

Responsibilities

• Leading and supervising the ambulatory nursing team, including permanent, bank, and agency staff
• Supporting the Theatre Manager and Consultant Clinical Directors in day-to-day theatre operations
• Mentoring, coaching, and developing staff to deliver high clinical standards
• Ensuring compliance with infection control, CQC regulations, and clinical governance protocols
• Coordinating rotas and on-call schedules to ensure consistent and safe patient care
• Overseeing patient flow, pre- and post-operative assessment, and recovery care
• Leading resuscitation calls, emergency drills, and audits in line with Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines
• Acting as a role model for professional standards, teamwork, and patient-centred care
• Leading the collection of patient's satisfaction surveys

We are looking for an experienced Ambulatory Nurse to join our theatre and ambulatory ward team, supporting leading plastic surgeons and perioperative teams across three state-of-the-art operating theatres.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Ambulatory Nurse, you'll play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality pre- and post-operative care, leading the ambulatory team, and ensuring smooth theatre operations.

What You'll Bring

Essential

• Proven leadership and people management skills
• Strong knowledge of pre- and post-operative care, theatre protocols, and patient safety
• Ability to mentor, supervise, and develop clinical teams

Desirable

• ALS/ILS certification
• Mentoring qualifications or people management training (ILM)
• Experience in anaesthetic equipment management and phlebotomy
• Exposure to day-case surgery or cosmetic/plastic surgery
