Ambulance Care Assistant - Casual

Location: Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran, NP44 8YN

Contract type: Casual

Hours: Zero hours, covering annual leave and sickness

Salary: £12.60 per hour

of 2 years

Experience Is Desirable, However, Full Training Can Be Given.

We have an exciting opportunity, for enthusiastic, and caring individuals to join our team to support our Patient Transport and Clinical Service team on a permanent basis.

  • You will work as part of a team responsible for providing patient transport in a safe, comfortable, and sympathetic manner, observing road and driving conditions at all times. The role involves driving and assisting as part of a crew, patients with different requirements based on their mobility classification.
  • Your days will be spent speaking to and supporting patients and medical staff so the hospital can run smoothly, freeing up clinical time to provide support.
  • Being based in A & E, picking up referrals from different departments
  • Standing for long periods of time, lifting and being very active
  • Your warm, caring nature and positive attitude will bring comfort to patients. You'll be sensitive when working with vulnerable people and have no trouble going the extra mile to make them feel comfortable, safe and cared for.
  • Your previous customer service experience, as well as understanding and awareness of the differing physical needs of our service users and a genuine interest in their well-being; will help people in your local community.
  • Our services in Wales are regulated by the Welsh Ambulance Trust and we apply the same standards to our service delivery across the whole of the UK. Our fleet and equipment are comparable with those deployed by NHS services.

Driving: Full UK Driving Licence required, to drive a manual gearbox British Red Cross vehicle. Licence to be held for a minimum of 2 years

The role of Ambulance Care Assistant might be for you if you have:

  • A full driving licence which allows you to operate a manual transmission vehicle (please note that, due to vehicle insurance policy requirements, applicants must have held their licence for a minimum of two full years).
  • You can bring your strong customer service or patient caring skills to the British Red Cross.
  • Covering shifts, Monday to Friday 10am to 8pm .

Closing date for applications is 25th June 2025, with interviews taking place on 10th July 2025 at Grange University Hospital.

Mandatory training will take place from 11th to 15th August 2025 for a week at the Cardiff Office. Please note that attendance on these dates is required and cannot be rescheduled.
