Job description

Ambulance Care Assistant (Bank) Bedfordshire

Join to apply for the Ambulance Care Assistant (Bank) Bedfordshire role at East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

We are seeking enthusiastic and passionate Ambulance Care Assistants to transport patients who are frail or require specialist assistance to and from appointments at hospitals, treatment centres, and similar facilities.

If you have experience caring for people, along with proven customer care and communication skills, we want to hear from you!

You should be flexible, adaptable, discreet when needed, and possess a good sense of humour and local knowledge of the area you will serve.

Please ensure your application addresses the essential criteria outlined in the person specification.

Every day as an ACA offers variety and the chance to make a real difference in patients' lives.

The role involves transporting non-urgent patients to and from health/social care facilities and private residences. It requires a professional, caring attitude and teamwork.

You will work either in a team of two or alone, operating various vehicle types.

A full UK manual car driving licence with at least one year of driving experience is required.

Please note: a maximum of 3 penalty points for minor motoring offences will be considered.

Your training will consist of a 3-week paid course (Monday – Friday), covering clinical first responder skills, patient transport, and uniform provision. Attendance is mandatory for the entire duration. Travel and accommodation costs are your responsibility, as venues are typically Welwyn Garden City & Barton Mills.

You must be able to commit to this training schedule.

Working in a diverse region, you'll benefit from proximity to London and the North Sea coast.

EEAST provides 24/7 urgent and non-urgent care across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire, striving for innovation and community representation.

We encourage applications from under-represented groups, including Black, Asian, or ethnic minorities, individuals with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ candidates, who meet the criteria.

We support flexible working to help balance work with personal commitments.
