Job description

Ambulance Care Assistant

A new position is available for this vacancy. To be considered, applicants must attend a 1-week Induction Training course. The dates will be confirmed later. The course runs from 9am to 5pm each day at a venue to be confirmed. Attendance is paid at £12.21 per hour. Once enough applicants are enrolled, the post will be closed.

  • Location: Sheffield

  • Pay: £12.21 per hour

  • Company pension scheme

  • Holidays: 28 days per year (pro-rata)

  • Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week. The service operates 24/7, 365 days a year. Initially, a zero-hours contract is offered. Applicants must be available for some weekends and public holidays.

The job

Our Ambulance Care Assistants (ACAs) are caring, compassionate, and friendly, playing a key role in safe and comfortable patient transportation from/to hospitals or care facilities. Tasks include:

  • Driving ambulances and specialist vehicles

  • Providing reassurance and support to patients

  • Conducting patient and vehicle risk assessments

  • Using manual and mechanical handling skills for patient movement, tail lifts, and wheelchair systems

  • Communicating with control centers

  • Cleaning and restocking vehicles

  • Completing reports and documentation accurately
