Job summary

Co-op is looking for a Transport Shift Manager to join our Plymouth depot and lead a 24/7 transport operation. You’ll manage a team of up to 70 colleagues, including 6 Team Managers, to deliver safe, efficient and customer-focused transport services.

This full-time role (39 hours/week, 5 over 7) offers a salary of £47,000–£54,000 plus benefits. You’ll work with the Distribution Manager to develop people, drive improvements and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners.

Qualifications

• A national CPC qualification or willing to work towards this in the next 6 months.
• Proven experience in a transport or retail operations environment.
• Strong knowledge of transport legislation and operating systems.
• Good leadership skills with the ability to support colleagues’ development.
• Ability to deliver operational changes and improvements in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence inclusively.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of our transport operations including compliance across all shifts.
• Be responsible for a team of up to 70 depot colleagues, including 6 Team Managers across a 24/7 operation.
• Inspire and coach your team to deliver a high-quality and efficient transport service.
• Be responsible for the development and progression of your team members.
• Build and maintain a culture of safety, compliance, and belonging across the depot.
• Resolve issues and remove barriers to meet performance targets.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external partners.
