Job description

Our Towpath Ambassadors help promote the value of our nation's canals and rivers and ensure that towpaths are accessible for everyone to share and enjoy.

They do this by attending and organising events, promoting our Share the Space campaign, helping to implement the Towpaths for Everyone Policy, and engaging with existing and potential supporters, partners, and customers.

As a Towpath Ambassador, you will represent the Trust, connect people and partners to our unique environment, raise awareness for canals, and create new opportunities to improve towpaths and canal spaces.

Why we want you

Our Ambassadors promote the value of our nation's canals and rivers through event attendance, campaign promotion, and engagement with supporters and customers. They help connect more people to our environment and raise awareness for canals.

They primarily participate in public events, inviting the community to join, learn, try activities, and discover more about the Trust.

Other roles, such as Waterside Leader, involve leading activities like guided walks at events. Additional roles include Rangers, Lock Keepers, Explorers, Waterside Champions, and Youth Engagement roles, which involve daily engagement outside of events.

What you will be doing

  1. Attending other organisations’ events and representing the Trust
  2. Giving talks in the local community to adult groups
  3. Promoting waterways in your community through various activities
  4. Assisting at museum and attraction events to showcase our collections
