Job description

Help shape the future of girls’ education by unlocking the power of our global alumnae network.

The Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) is the UK’s leading family of independent girls’ schools, with a long and proud history of pioneering change in education and in society. Our alumnae community is an extraordinary part of that legacy — and our future.

Today, more than 113,000 GDST alumnae form a vibrant and growing global network of scientists, artists, entrepreneurs, educators, activists and leaders. Much of this network remains untapped — and we believe there is a powerful opportunity to connect and mobilise this remarkable group around our shared values, stories and ambitions.

About the role

We are now seeking an exceptional Alumnae Engagement Manager to lead this work.

In this exciting and highly collaborative role, you will develop and deliver a compelling alumnae engagement programme that builds meaningful connections across the GDST family and drives philanthropic support for our public purpose: to reach as many girls as possible with the life-changing gift of a GDST education.

You will lead on the delivery of flagship events, high-quality communications and targeted engagement campaigns, as well as provide strategic advice and practical support to schools across the GDST network.

You’ll also play a key role in identifying and nurturing high-potential alumnae relationships, working closely with colleagues in philanthropy to strengthen our pipeline of support and stewardship.

About you

We’re looking for a confident and creative relationship builder with experience of designing and delivering impactful engagement strategies — ideally in a school, higher education, or charitable setting.

You will bring:

  • A strong track record of building lasting relationships with alumnae, donors or supporters
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a flair for storytelling across channels
  • Experience of managing community platforms, multi-format content and high-quality events
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, data management and audience segmentation
  • A collaborative and collegiate working style, with the confidence to influence and advise colleagues at all levels
  • A genuine commitment to the values and mission of the GDST

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the way we celebrate, connect and grow our alumnae community, ensuring that GDST women continue to support one another – and the next generation – for years to come.

Why join us

As part of the GDST, the UK's leading network of independent girls' schools, we can offer a variety of benefits, such as:

• Competitive salaries and pay progression
• Access to extensive professional development opportunities
• Training grants for qualifications
• A discount of up to 50% on fees for children at GDST schools
• Generous pension schemes
• Free life assurance benefit
• Interest free loans for training, computer purchase loans and travel season ticket loans
• A Cycle to Work scheme
• Competitive terms and conditions of employment

There are many other good reasons to work with us. At the GDST, we are committed to diversity, inclusion and real change: a family where every individual is valued, respected and included. Each of our schools and our Trust Office has its own sense of community, and you’ll be part of it. You’ll be part, too, of the wider GDST family. You’ll be in the company of some of the best and brightest people in independent education. Most importantly, no matter what your role, you’ll be playing a major part in the highly regarded education we give our girls.

The closing date for applications is 7th August 2025, 10am.

Interviews will be arranged as suitable candidates are identified, so early application is strongly advised.

The GDST are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
