Job description


To set-up, maintain, and perform the most complex precision welding operation in all positions using standard Mig or Tig Aluminum welding techniques, accessory tools, formal drawings, or written instructions to achieve conformance with specifications on complex or prototype products; works independently to plan assignments where standardized procedures are not provided. 99% of the welding this position will be performing is aluminum.

Machine and Equipment Used:

Hand tools, electric and gas welding equipment.

Mig and Tig welding machines

Grinders, Tape measures, Protractors, Laser Level

YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

  • Plans, sets-up, maintains, and performs the most complex precision welding operations using any standard or specialized welding techniques, equipment, and tools necessary to accomplish the work assignment.
  • Fabricates from drawings, rough sketches or verbal instructions a wide variety of metals including stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Inspects own work to assure conformance with specifications.
  • Applies knowledge of metallurgical properties related to welding including annealing, hardening, warping, and distortion.
  • Routinely uses various tools such as squares, surface gauges, vernier calipers, and positioners.
  • Implements optimum welding methods and techniques where standardized procedures are not available and advises possible improvements in standardized methods.
  • Designs and fabricates jigs and fixtures to hold required tolerances.
  • May provide technical advice and train less skilled welders.
  • May provide work directions and guidance to others as needed.
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned.

YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:

  • Expert fitter with full comprehension of blueprints.
  • Expert aluminum welder with Mig & Tig experience in all positions
  • Must know shop mathematics through geometry
  • Ability to read and interpret prints
  • Good eye/hand coordination
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must have the ability to follow safety practices
  • Basic problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn how to use necessary computer tools
  • Visual attention to detail
  • Reliable hand strength and manual dexterity
  • This position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The successful candidate must be a “U.S. Person” as defined under ITAR and EAR. In order to be a U.S. Person for ITAR and EAR purposes, you must (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (iii)a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years directly related work experience or two (2) years of concentrated welding training.
  • Highschool Diploma or GED required, AA in technical field preferred.
  • Must be able to pass written blueprint test and aluminum weld test.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to lift to a maximum of 25-40 lbs
  • Able to sit/stand for long periods of time.

Salary Range: $25-$30 / hour
