We are currently undertaking significant capital projects including the re-building of workshops, new offices, and improving Southampton's last remaining working dry dock.Having secured a unique and exciting 36m new build project, we are now looking for a Coded Aluminium Welder to join our team based at our site in Southampton.
The responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
· Plan and prepare for metal fabrication activities before commencing work.
· Interpret technical drawings, patterns, templates and specifications to mark out, produce and assemble fabricated products that meet to relevant class standards and practices.
·Cut, drill, shape and prepare metal materials during fabrication activities using manual, power and cutting processes as required.
·Check materials to ensure they conform to specified grades, dimensions and thicknesses identified on detailed engineering drawings.
·Always work safely complying with health and safety legislation, regulations, organisational and environmental requirements.
·Welding to a high standard with various materials.
Skills required
·Experience using a range of materials – Carbon Steel, AB2 bronze, CuNi, Aluminium, Stainless steel.
· Must be able to pass coding’s for MIG/TIG welding on aluminium (e.g. BS EN ISO 9606-2).
· NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Welding or Fabrication & Welding (or equivalent).
· Knowledge of welding standards BS EN ISO 9606-2
·Confident using all fabrication machinery: guillotine, break-press as well as various types rolling machines. (would be an advantage)
·Participate in weld tests and re-certifications as required.
·Competent mathematical ability.
·Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
Working Conditions
·Site-based work that may include confined spaces or elevated work.
· Use of protective equipment (welding helmet, gloves, respirator).
· May involve shift work during peak project phases.
Additional Information
Minimum of 40 hours of work per week – Monday to Friday.
