About the Role

Remedy Tutors is looking for caring, enthusiastic and experienced tutors to support children and young people across Bromley who require alternative provision or personalised education outside a traditional classroom setting.

Sessions may take place in the student's home or another suitable learning environment, depending on the placement.

This is a rewarding opportunity to help students rebuild confidence, develop essential academic skills and re-engage with education at a pace that suits their individual needs.

We offer flexible tutoring opportunities, with referrals available for tutors seeking part-time work or additional hours.

Maths and English are essential, and experience teaching additional subjects is an advantage.

About the Students
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEN/SEND)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Autism (ASC/ASD)
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
  • Dyslexia and dyscalculia
  • Speech, language and communication needs
  • Gaps in learning or disrupted education
  • Students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Students unable to access mainstream school or requiring alternative provision

Every student has different strengths, challenges and learning goals. We aim to match tutors to referrals based on their experience, subject knowledge, location and availability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering personalised one-to-one Maths and English tuition.
  • Supporting primary, secondary and GCSE-level learners.
  • Planning engaging lessons tailored to each student's ability and needs.
  • Identifying gaps in learning and supporting academic progress.
  • Adapting teaching methods to accommodate SEN/SEND requirements.
  • Helping students rebuild confidence, motivation and engagement.
  • Supporting individual learning targets and EHCP outcomes where appropriate.
  • Establishing positive, trusting relationships with students.
  • Monitoring progress and maintaining accurate session records.
  • Communicating with parents, carers and other professionals when required.

  • Qualified teachers and experienced private tutors.

  • Teaching assistants with strong subject knowledge.
  • Graduates with relevant tutoring or educational experience.
  • Education professionals experienced in supporting vulnerable learners.

You should be patient, reliable, adaptable and confident working independently with children and young people who may have experienced difficulties accessing education.

Experience working with SEN, SEMH, school avoidance or alternative provision is highly desirable.

QTS is not essential for every placement, provided you have suitable experience and subject knowledge. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred.

Essential Subjects
  • Maths
  • English

Experience teaching both subjects is essential for this role.

Additional subjects welcome: Science, Humanities, Computing, Modern Foreign Languages and primary curriculum subjects.
