Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join an Alternative Provision partnership in the Warton area.

The role is full-time, temporary with view to permanent, starting ASAP, and involves 1-to-1 and small group support for students with SEMH, ASC or behavioural challenges. You will mentor behaviour, assist with life-skills and core subjects, and collaborate with local AP staff to track progress and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Sports Coach or Support Worker in Alternative Provision, PRU, or SEN settings.
• Availability to start ASAP and work full-time 5 days a week.
• Strong resilience, empathy and calm under pressure.
• Excellent rapport-building with hard-to-reach young people and clear boundaries.
• Desirable childcare/education/youth qualifications, with the right personality fit.

Responsibilities

• 1-to-1 and small group support tailored to disengaged or vulnerable students.

Alternative Provision Teaching Assistant (Warton Area)

Position: Teaching Assistant (Temporary with a view to Permanent)

Commitment: Full-Time, 5 Days a Week

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Warton Area

Pay Rate: 100 - 135 per day (dependent on experience)

About the Role

Are you resilient, compassionate, and passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work 5 days a week starting ASAP within a dynamic and supportive Alternative Provision partnership based in the Warton area.

This position is offered on a temporary basis with a view to becoming permanent for the right candidate. In this role, you will work closely with students who have struggled within mainstream education, including those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism (ASC), or behavioural challenges. Your goal will be to help rebuild their confidence, re-engage them in learning, and guide them toward positive futures.

Key Responsibilities

• 1-to-1 and Small Group Support: Tailor learning approaches to suit the unique needs of disengaged or vulnerable students.

• Behaviour Mentoring: Use positive behaviour management strategies, de-escalation techniques, and emotional regulation support to foster a safe learning environment.

• Academic Assistance: Assist teachers in delivering engaging, functional, and alternative curricula (e.g., life skills, hands-on projects, core subjects).

• Building Trust: Act as a reliable, positive role model who advocates for students and celebrates their small wins and milestones.

• Partnership Collaboration: Work alongside local AP staff, teachers, and external agencies in the Warton community to track student progress and wellbeing.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, Support Worker, or within an Alternative Provision, PRU, or SEN setting.

• Availability: Ready to start ASAP on a full-time, 5-day-a-week basis.

• Mindset: Highly resilient, patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure.

• Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to build rapport with hard-to-reach young people and establish clear, consistent boundaries.

• Qualifications: Relevant childcare, youth work, or education qualifications are desirable, though a strong commitment and the right personality fit are paramount.
