Job description

We are a Multi Academy Trust comprising of six secondary schools and one primary school with over 750 employees and over 5,500 students, based in Dudley, West Midlands.

Both Greenhill Alternative Learning Campus in Halesowen and Invictus Revive Learning Centre at Leasowes High School aim to support young people in KS3 and 4 who have been unable to achieve in a mainstream setting.

We are seeking an AP Practitioner for behaviour who will working with all stakeholders to ensure student’s journey in our settings results in good outcomes, improved conduct, whilst preparing them for reintegration into mainstream school.You will be supported by a team of dedicated support staff and leaders in a joint approach to secure the best outcomes for young people.

Working under guidance of the AP Learning Manager the successful candidate will provide both academic and pastoral support to students in alternative provision to overcome barriers to learning in order to achieve excellent outcomes both academic and pastoral.A feature of this role will be supporting behaviour systems and reintegration of young people back into a mainstream setting.

Regular duties would include:

Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate restorative practice strategies including restorative conversations to resolve conflict. Ensuring positive relationships with both students and parent/carers.

Deliver attendance sessions, topical workshops and 1-2-1 interventions to groups of young people.

Support teaching staff by preparing assessments, tasks and resources for lessons including the deliverance of tailored strategies to assist students who have SEND.

Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, positive conduct, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection. Reporting all concerns to the appropriate person.

Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals, in liaison with the appropriate staff, to support achievement and progress of pupils.

Support students’ reintegration to mainstream school both in person and remotely.

Implement planned supervision of pupils during lunchtimes.

Assist in organising enrichments visits that support the alternative provision curriculum offer.

Track and monitor attendance of young people in AP and take steps to address persistent absence of students.

Liaise with parents and carers regarding achievement, attendance and conduct. This

extends to home visits as and when required.

Supervise pupils on visits, expeditions and residential experiences.

You will need to be/have;

Knowledge and experience of supporting students within KS3/ 4 secondary curricula.

An understanding of interventions/ approaches to engaging with young people who are disenfranchised with education.

A patient and caring approach. Resilient and positive in the face of challenging situations.

An awareness of the barriers to learning experienced by young people who are at risk of permanent exclusion from school.

A sound awareness of safeguarding issues and related reporting, monitoring and recording procedures.

Be a visible presence in our alternative provisions ensuring our daily/lessons routines are embedded.

Understanding of the value of taking a restorative approach to behaviour management; avoiding punitive measures.
