Job Description

Grant Thornton’s Alternative Funds tax team provides tax advisory, transactions, and compliance services to alternative fund managers across all asset classes including private equity, venture capital, private debt, hedge funds, real estate, and infrastructure.

The team’s client portfolio spans the asset management sector, serving traditional asset managers, financial institutions, private equity funds, alternative investors, the real estate sector, wealth and hedge asset managers, UK pension funds, and global institutional investors. We combine technical expertise with a commercial approach to build trusted adviser relationships with our clients.

The Alternative Funds tax team is part of the wider Financial Services Tax team, which provides tax services across Wealth and Asset Management, Banking, Capital Markets, and Insurance sectors.

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic Associate Director with strong UK tax compliance and advisory experience to join our London team. The role involves working on domestic and international structuring, transactions, and UK tax compliance and advisory matters, with opportunities to collaborate within the Grant Thornton International network.

You will manage the full suite of tax compliance and advisory services for asset managers and their funds throughout the investment lifecycle, including fund structuring, carried interest arrangements, asset investment and divestment, and ongoing tax compliance and investor reporting.

The role also involves building strong client relationships, working on diverse projects, and contributing to practice growth. We support flexible working arrangements to help balance work and personal life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical tax advice to asset managers and funds throughout the investment lifecycle.
  • Deliver partnership and corporate tax compliance services, ensuring timely and accurate tax reporting.
  • Assist with investor reporting to communicate taxable results.
  • Develop and maintain a diverse client portfolio with high service standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the firm and international network to identify opportunities.
  • Contribute to business development and client relationship management.
  • Train and develop junior team members.
  • Adhere to risk management and quality procedures.

Candidate Profile:

The minimum requirement is a professional qualification (CTA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent) and confidence in managing a client portfolio. Preferred skills include strong tax technical expertise, experience in financial services, project leadership, excellent communication, and familiarity with relevant software. Experience in coaching juniors is also valued.

Our Culture and Benefits:

We foster an inclusive culture that values diversity and individual contributions. We offer flexible working options, support work-life balance, and encourage community involvement. Our values include purposefulness, curiosity, candor, and kindness, guiding us to do the right thing for clients, colleagues, and society.

Note: If you do not hold a passport for the country of the vacancy, a work permit may be required. Applications should be made via the 'Apply now' button. External payment or bank details should not be provided.
