Job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Alternative Curriculum Officer to join our team and support students in our KS3 and KS4 internal provision. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people's lives by helping them overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

As an Alternative Curriculum Officer, you will support, guide, and inspire students to re-engage with their learning, ensuring their educational progress and personal development are prioritised. We’re looking for someone with a genuine passion for working with young people—someone who combines empathy with assertiveness and can build strong, positive relationships. You’ll bring a proactive and resilient approach, particularly in challenging situations, and a strong commitment to making a difference.

The successful candidate will possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Your organisation and problem-solving skills will enable you to work efficiently and effectively, using your own initiative.

Why us?

Our vision at Coop Academy Grange is that ‘We make ‘Grange Great’ by accelerating the development of our children towards their potential in everything we do.’ This vision drives all of the decisions that we make and all of the work that we do day in and day out for our community.

All our values are based upon the values of the Co-op Group, which will inform our behaviours.

Our Values

  • Self-help: We do not expect to be spoon fed – we will try to do things for ourselves in the right way and at the right time.
  • Self-responsibility: Everyone should act responsibly around the academy and in the local community. We take responsibility for our own learning; we aim to become independent learners.
  • Equality: We are proud to be part of a multicultural academy, with students from all over the world; it is important that we treat each other with respect and accept that others may be different from ourselves. We all should have equal chances to succeed.
  • Equity: We seek the best in each other. We reward others fairly to encourage all types of achievement.
  • Democracy: We contribute our ideas to make the academy a success.
  • Solidarity: We achieve more by working together, rather than as individuals.

Our values are embedded in everything we do within our academy, guiding us to demonstrate ethical behaviour and our ‘Ways of Being’: Succeed together, Do What Matters Most, Be yourself, always, and Show You Care.

If you believe in our values, we would love to hear from you!

We offer a wide range of benefits and rewards to recognise your part in our success:

Benefits Include:

  • 5% cash-back as a Co-op member, plus a Co-op colleague discount card offering 10% discounts in our Food stores, with double discounts monthly.
  • Co-operative flexible benefits (discounted line rental, broadband, family care advice, cycle to work scheme).
  • Discounted gym memberships and leisure activities, including Merlin Entertainments, Virgin Experience Days, SuperBreak, and more.
  • Co-op Credit Union: save directly from your salary, with competitive dividends and interest rates.
  • Co-op Funeralcare benefit.
  • Season ticket and rental deposit loans.
