Candidates with risk management experience—particularly from G‑SIFI organizations and/or large public accounting firms—combined with strong technology risk and audit expertise, will be well positioned for success.

Why This Role Matters

Effective risk management is essential to our organization. As a member of the BRM team, you will support the governance, oversight, and management of business risks in alignment with the firm’s risk excellence objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and assess risks and controls across business and technology processes.
  • Evaluate control design and operating effectiveness through periodic process and control reviews.
  • Self-identify and help the business identify control issues; analyze root causes; draft timely remediation plans; and monitor progress through closure.
  • Advise on risk and control design, acting as a partner during the introduction of new technologies and business processes.
  • Support key business risk programs, including risk reviews, risk reporting, governance activities, issue/incident management, and control monitoring.
  • Coordinate and prepare for internal and external reviews, including 2nd line assessments, internal audits, and regulatory examinations.
  • Escalate potential violations of rules, regulations, policies, or procedures and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Coordinate stakeholders to effectively execute the responsibilities outlined above.
  • Train colleagues in State Street methodologies and promote a culture of accountability and ownership across all levels of the organization.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Business Risk function.
What We Value
  • Ability to manage complexity and effectively prioritize multiple tasks in non‑routine environments.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies and processes.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
  • Understanding of first, second, and third lines of defense.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Collaboration, influence, and project management capability.
  • Critical thinking and intellectual curiosity.
  • Initiative, ownership, and energy.
  • A team-oriented mindset and respect for others.
Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in risk management.
  • Knowledge of industry risk and control frameworks (e.g., COSO, COBIT, NIST, ISO).
