Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data modelling and a keen interest in ensuring the usability of models as deliverables. This role will involve working closely with various departments to develop and implement data models that support our business processes and enhance our service offerings.

State Street is making a multi-year strategic investment in Alpha to build platforms for Data Modelling and Lineage to improve useability of the data sets for Insight and analytics.

As we look to increase our capabilities across the Alpha Data Services, we need a strong manager to work with clients and prospects on new product development and execution and refinement of our multi-year strategy.

This role will report to the EMEA ADS lead for ADS practice and is responsible for leading the product development program in terms of evolving the service offering (capabilities, services and platform) starting with Security and Issuer data.

The product offering includes front-office technology, traditional middle and back-office asset and fund administration. The individual plays a key role in leading the development program across, and in partnership with, the client facing, product, global delivery (operations), technology and Alpha teams. The role is a key voice in our overall private markets product and in helping to strengthen State Street’s position in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Alpha Data Service Product Domain leads , build and execute the Develop data models that support asset management processes..
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of Data Modelling & Lineage, use of Microsoft Fabric to integrate data on Desktop and understanding and ability to draw data from Snowflake.
  • Build out our model to cover lineage across the platform that are user-oriented, creating metadata-driven views and insights across environments to develop new services
  • Develop insights into Implementation progress to track and highlight key areas for attention
  • Collect and monitor client feedback and requests, integrating them into the product development roadmap .
  • Manage the conception, development, and implementation of new data models, capabilities, or services impacting the Alpha Data Services to deliver cross platform insights.
  • Support annual planning and funding prioritization activities as needed.
  • Participate in and provide thought leadership for data-related projects.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead development life cycles, complex projects, or client engagements, translating into models and insight to support implementations

Skills

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, balance key tasks, and manage time effectively—capable of leading as well as rolling up your sleeves as needed.
  • Comfortable facilitating project working groups including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated professional with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Expertise in asset management data modelling, including the ability to design and implement data models that support asset management processes.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Fabric and Snowflake
  • Strong understanding of data utilization within asset management processes

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of alternatives experience in back, front and/or middle office.
  • Expertise with Modelling Data for use in Analytics
  • Understanding of Asset Management data and how this is utilised within Asset Management Processes

Other Desirable Skills

  • Develop and implement data models that support asset management processes, particularly in alternatives
  • Utilize Microsoft Fabric to integrate data on desktop applications and draw data from Snowflake
  • Build ADP analytical models that are user-oriented, creating metadata-driven views and insights across environments to develop new services
  • Collect and monitor client feedback and requests, integrating them into the product development roadmap
  • Manage the conception, development, and implementation of new data models, capabilities, or services impacting the Private Markets business, partnering with other members of the Product team, Global Delivery, Technology, and the Alpha team
  • Oversee resources responsible for performing business analysis and requirements definition
  • Support annual planning and funding prioritization activities as needed
  • Understand the firm's strategic plans, business processes, and architecture, applying this knowledge during the solution design and development phases
  • Participate in and provide thought leadership for data-related projects
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead development life cycles, complex projects, or client engagements, translating needs to requirements to drive outcomes
