Job summary

Alliance Healthcare Alloga in Derby is seeking an experienced Class 1 Driver/Shunter to join our distribution team. You will be responsible for delivering a safe, efficient transport service from our Derby distribution centre, with time-critical pharmaceutical products moved securely across our network.

The role offers a consistent Monday to Friday pattern, 48 hours per week, with start times between 12:00 and 16:00.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) Licence.
• Valid Driver CPC Qualification.
• Digital Tachograph Card.
• Good understanding of driver hours' regulations and transport legislation.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• A safety-first approach with a commitment to compliance.
• Previous Class 1 driving and/or shunting experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver goods safely, efficiently and on time while providing exceptional customer service.
• Carry out on-site shunting duties to support the distribution centre operations.
• Maintain regular communication with the Transport Office and report delays or issues promptly.
• Complete transport and delivery documentation accurately, including proof of delivery and returns paperwork.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and ensure vehicles are roadworthy, clean and compliant.
• Ensure loads are secured and transported safely in line with laws and company requirements.
• Adhere to road traffic legislation, driver regulations and company policies.
• Report incidents, defects, accidents, safety concerns or temperature excursions immediately.
• Maintain the highest standards of safety, compliance and professionalism.
