Job description

The Department of Health is seeking qualified Allied Health Professionals for the CYMHS Out of Home Care Team (530081) in the North of Tasmania.

Please note these positions are also being advertised as Clinical Nurse Specialists in the North; these positions will be filled on merit.

We are seeking allied health professionals with experience in complex case management, assessment, counselling, and/or therapy within mental health or relevant sectors. You would work within a well-supported, innovative, diverse multidisciplinary team to provide developmentally appropriate treatment to young people and their families.

Our Aim:

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) in Tasmania is expanding! We are looking for passionate and dedicated Lead Practitioners to deliver clinical services to young people and their families experiencing mental health concerns. These roles are within new teams developed under the CYMHS reform program (Youth, Youth Forensic, Out of Home Care).

The out of home care practitioner will have a passion for a person-centred approach, working within a multidisciplinary team and with external stakeholders.

The role will include:

  • Being part of a dynamic, well-supported team committed to high-quality mental health services for young people and their families/carers.
  • Providing clinical services through complex case management, assessment, and individual therapies, including developing and implementing specialised treatment programs.
  • Collaborating with team leaders and consultant psychiatrists to develop new youth mental health services in Tasmania.
  • Leading and supporting a diverse group of clinicians as part of the multidisciplinary team, including offering support and consultation to team members.
  • Training in evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Family Therapy, or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is highly regarded.

Three positions are available in the North:

  • Based in Launceston CBD.

Details of Appointment:

Three permanent full-time day positions, 76 hours per fortnight, starting as soon as possible. Hours are negotiable.

  • This selection process may be used to fill similar vacancies for twelve months from the date of publication.

Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per year, plus 12% superannuation.

  • Salary in accordance with the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Salary Packaging:

Options include benefits such as living expenses up to $9,010, $2,650 in meal entertainment annually, and other benefits if eligible.

Allowances:

  • Access to salaries beyond $119,290 depends on qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.

Additional allowances based on salary increments may include:

  • Professional Development Allowance up to $1,000 per year.

Benefits for eligible candidates:

  • Travel and relocation support up to $15,000 for overseas applicants and $10,000 for interstate applicants.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet:

  • Completion of an approved allied health qualification and registration with the relevant National Board or full membership/eligibility with the relevant professional association.
  • Current Working with Children Registration.

Desirable criteria include:

  • Postgraduate experience in mental health related to CAMHS.
  • At least 3 years of postgraduate experience in child, adolescent, or youth mental health or a relevant field.
  • Current Driver’s Licence.
