Job description

Job Summary

This is a specialist allergy nursing role within a small team providing a regionally commissioned service. Any capable Level one Registered Nurse can perform this role, as no specific experience in allergy desensitisation is required; training will be provided. The role involves nurse-led desensitisation, supervised biologic treatments for chronic spontaneous urticaria, allergy skin prick testing, and administrative tasks including high-cost drug management, databasing, patient registries, and drug ordering.

Main Duties

1. Communication

• Participate in clinic huddles
• Report at quarterly minuted quality meetings

Service Delivery and Improvement

• Conduct desensitisation clinics
• Manage biologic clinics
• Attend quarterly quality meetings
• Assist with administrative functions (databasing, patient registries, high-cost drug management, homecare, drug ordering)

People Management and Development

• Collaborate within the small specialist team
• Provide training to other teams as needed

Patient Care Delivery

• Administer desensitisation and omalizumab treatments
• Provide patient education on adrenaline autoinjectors, self-management plans, and allergen avoidance
