Pastoral Leader

Term-time plus inset days

Salary: AAT E.11 – AAT E.14 (FTE £27,852 - £29,716)

Required to start: September 2025

Alkerden Church of England Academy is seeking a committed, compassionate, and proactive Pastoral Leader to play a central role in shaping the pastoral life and character development of our students. As part of our founding team, you will initially lead a year group and eventually become a key figure within one of Alkerden’s wider community structures. Rooted in the Academy’s Christian ethos of inclusion, hope, and respect, this role will contribute to creating a nurturing, aspirational environment where every student feels a sense of belonging and purpose.

The Pastoral Leader will champion the personal development, well-being, and pastoral care of students, ensuring that each young person is known, valued, and supported to thrive both academically and socially. This role is vital in building a cohesive community identity, embedding restorative and inclusive practices, and leading a team of tutors to uphold high expectations. Through collaboration with families, staff, and external agencies, the Pastoral Leader will establish a support network that helps students flourish and overcome barriers to success. The role involves building meaningful, trusting relationships with young people and adults, fostering a sense of belonging for all.
