Wayland Additive is an ambitious West-Yorkshire based technology company. Over the past 4 years the company has developed a suite of new technologies in the advanced manufacturing sector, and is now working towards the launch of their first product – a high-tech manufacturing machine which is essentially a highly complex 3D metal printer with multiple specialised high-technology sub-systems.
Wayland has a detailed roadmap of technology and product development extending into the future and aggressive growth plans. The company is already experiencing significant interest in their product and is now embarking on the industrial production phase of their operation.
Creating a new manufacturing company ‘from the ground up’ requires tenacity and an eagerness to learn. As with any small company, flexibility and adaptability will be essential attributes to make a success of the position on offer.
This is primarily a development role within the Software Team at Wayland Additive, but requires working closely with the Applications Team in a hands-on role operating the Calibur3 Powder Bed Additive Manufacturing machine. The successful candidate will primarily be required to develop, optimise, maintain and document various computationally intensive tasks associated with the machine, including

The successful candidate will have completed a further degree in a numerate (scientific / engineering) discipline and will have skills and experience in a selection of the technologies listed above, ideally including C++ experience. Candidates with a background in computational geometry and/or image processing, who would like to extend their skills into machine learning or artificial intelligence are particularly invited to apply. Experience with Additive Manufacturing is not necessary.
