A leading health and social care provider is seeking an Alcohol Recovery Worker to manage caseloads and facilitate substance misuse interventions. The role offers career progression, flexible working conditions, and a supportive learning environment. You will be part of a dynamic team and have the opportunity to improve the lives of individuals on their recovery journey.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Turning Point’s Leicestershire Substance Misuse Services as an Alcohol Recovery Worker. You will join our large integrated service which delivers treatment across the whole of Leicester City, Leicestershire and Rutland. We are specifically looking to fill vacancies in our Leicester office.
You will have opportunities to progress your career with a structured learning journey and clearly defined career pathways that will enable you to achieve your long-term goals and work to your strengths.
Whether you are looking to progress into a management and leadership role or to be a specialist in your field as an Advanced Substance Use Practitioner at Turning point we will support and encourage you on your career journey.
As an AlcoholRecovery Worker you will manage a caseload, undertake assessments, develop person centred recovery plans individually and in small clusters and run evidence based substance misuse interventions in a group basis and individually. Your work will make a real difference; supporting individuals to make changes in their substance use and improving their overall quality of life.
You will work as part of a team made up of Recovery Workers, Managers, Doctors, Nurses and Peer Mentors. You will be assigned initially to one of our recovery teams in either the city or the county and throughout your time in role may get the opportunity to work from any of our teams or locations across the city and county, including in our specialist criminal justice team.
A driving licence and car access is desirable but flexibility in travel across the county is essential.
You’ll have an understanding of substance and alcohol misuse and the challenges and opportunities for individuals on a recovery journey. However, we also recognise that many people have transferrable skills from other backgrounds such as mental health, housing or other health and social care provision. The roles are varied, so flexibility, an ability to work dynamically on a one to one and group basis and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery will be vital but we can help to shape these skills where needed. We also look for candidates with excellent communication skills and who share our values as an organisation. We value individuals with lived experience but also those who are just interested in this line of work; our Trainee Recovery Worker program enables individuals without all relevant experience to gain an entry level position within the organisation before moving on to other roles.
We value individual creativity and initiative and, whatever your role, you will be fully involved in identifying opportunities to improve the quality of our services and the service user experience. Your ideas will be listened to and your suggestions implemented wherever possible. You will be supported in your role by extensive training to help develop your skills. Our learning culture encourages everyone to stay on top of the latest developments in their field and helps drive service improvement.
As a leading health and social care provider with more than 300 locations across England, we take real pride in the services we offer.
We run all of our services on a not-for-profit basis; instead, we invest every penny back into our services and people. We never stop believing in change for the better, and we work constantly to improve the lives of the people we support.
