Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position is to assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating alcohol and other drug abuse prevention programs in Dorchester County.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university, including 18 in behavioral sciences, health services, human services, or education.
Experience: None required.
Notes: 1. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate, plus two years of experience in community or school-based alcohol or drug prevention programs, may substitute for the educational requirement. 2. Military service as a non-commissioned officer in relevant health or counseling fields may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for education.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

Employees may be assigned duties requiring operation of a motor vehicle. A valid Maryland driver’s license is required for such duties.

Selection Process

Applicants meeting minimum (and any selective) qualifications will undergo further evaluation, which may include rating your application based on education, training, and experience. Accurate and complete information is essential. Education outside the U.S. requires a foreign credential evaluation. Complete applications must be submitted by the deadline; resumes are not accepted in lieu of applications. The eligible list remains valid for at least one year and may be used for similar positions in other State agencies.

Benefits

Contractual employees working 30+ hours/week or an average of 130 hours/month may be eligible for subsidized health benefits, paying 25% of premiums. Additional benefits include dental, accidental death and dismemberment, and life insurance options, with full premiums paid by the employee. Leave accrues at one hour per 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours annually.
