Job description

Job Title: AIT Production Engineer

Carbon60 is currently partnering with a well-known aircraft manufacturer to recruit an experienced AIT Production Engineer on an initial 12-month contract.

This role focuses on assembly, integration, and test (AIT) within the mechanical engineering team. Responsibilities include writing processes, plans, and procedures in 3D Experience for satellite production, as well as hardware assembly of black boxes, solar arrays, and structure panels, including testing at the testing facility.

The production site is based in Stevenage, with the test facility in Oxford. After four months fully based in Stevenage, the successful candidate must be willing to travel to Oxford during testing phases.

Responsibilities:
  1. Support the customization phase starting at project kickoff.
  2. Participate in Digital Mock-Up/Design for Manufacture (DMU) sessions to ensure design for manufacture.
  3. Create documentation for production, including ACS inputs, work instructions, and procedures.
  4. Lead the installation of satellite appendages and related integration flows.
  5. Define MGSE for satellite use and support procurement.
  6. Assist the Process Owner team and AIT Lead Engineering team, especially during high workload periods.
  7. Create MBOMs and build processes in DDMS.
  8. Support operational activities, observation resolutions, and quality reviews, including PFMEA and Root Cause Analysis.
  9. Develop re-work instructions, tooling, and build aids for assembly.
  10. Support R&D activities and create training modules.
  11. Ensure processes are standardized, optimized, and current, leading process improvements.
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Minimum HNC in Mechanical discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Strong mechanical skills and relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in writing procedures and process control documentation.
  • Ability to work offsite in the UK and abroad for short periods.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, shifts, and support out-of-hours work via an on-call rota.
  • Attention to detail with a quality-driven approach.
  • Experience in producing high-quality documentation such as test specifications, plans, and procedures.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage changing priorities across multiple projects.
  • Good problem-solving, planning, and communication skills; MRP system experience is a plus.
