Overview

Airport Vehicle & Equipment Engineer - London Heathrow

Salary: £47,047.50 per annum + up to £3,500 shift allowance + £500 London weighting

Shifts: 4 on 4 off (choose from 06:30-18:30 or 11:30-23:30)

Location: London Heathrow

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

Equipment You Will Work On
  • Tow tractors, belt loaders, baggage tractors, and aircraft stairs
  • Ground power units (GPU), air start units (ASU), and air conditioning units (ACU)
  • Aircraft de-icers and specialist airport maintenance equipment
  • Electric and hybrid GSE as the aviation industry moves toward sustainable operations
Key Responsibilities
  • Service, maintain, and repair Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to a high standard
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and carry out planned maintenance
  • Complete all service documentation and job cards accurately and on time
  • Work closely with airside operations to ensure minimal equipment downtime
  • Comply fully with health, safety, and airport security requirements
What You'll Bring
  • Experience in HGV, bus, plant, construction equipment, forklift, or GSE maintenance
  • Strong understanding of hydraulics, engines, drivetrains, and basic auto-electrics
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics
  • City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in motor mechanics or equivalent qualification
  • HGV Class 1 licence (advantageous but not essential)
  • Five years of checkable work history to obtain an Airside Pass, and ability to pass CRC checks (GSAT training provided)
