Job summary

NATS is recruiting at St Athan for an Airport Operational Engineer to provide maintenance on air traffic control systems and support the airport to keep services available. You will be a focal point for planned and corrective maintenance, working with ATC and engineering staff to ensure safe, reliable operations.

The role requires a professional engineering qualification or substantial alternative experience in safety-critical environments, and you must live within 1 hour of St Athan.

Qualifications

• Higher National Certificate (Level 4) in Electronics, Telecommunications or Computer Science, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• Relevant lower-level engineering qualifications with demonstrable experience in a safety-critical environment may be acceptable.
• Full UK Driving Licence required.
• Flexible approach, ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out planned and corrective maintenance on air traffic control systems.
• Prioritise faults and direct engineering resources to restore service safely and promptly.
• Provide operational guidance and specialist advice and assist where needed.
• Maintain clear and accurate records of all activities.
• Brief ATC and engineering staff; supervise Airport Maintenance Engineers and contractors.
• Maintain own Competency Ratings and report concerns to the Engineering Manager.
• Assist post-incident procedures to aid incident reporting.
• Work across Communications, Navigation, Surveillance, and Information domains across airport equipment.
