Job description

The post holder will be required to carry out various maintenance tasks as instructed by the Operations Director (OD), the Airfield Manager (Afd Mgr), or the Airfield Maintenance Foreman (AFMF), relating to airfield operations, airport buildings, car parks, roadways, gardens, and open spaces.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Carry out maintenance tasks to required standards as specified by the OD, AM, or the AFMF.
  2. Complete documentation pertaining to works carried out, e.g., equipment inspections, work records, hot works permits.
  3. Comply with all Health and Safety requirements based on standard published procedures.
  4. Hold and maintain a valid Airfield Driving Permit.
  5. Safely operate various items of equipment, in connection with duties when suitably trained.
  6. Operate a variety of plant and equipment, including MEWPs, tractors, grass cutting machinery, diggers, and rollers.
  7. Repair airfield and roadway surfaces as directed by the OD or the AM, using appropriate materials.
  8. Carry out general repairs and maintenance on airport infrastructure.
  9. Perform grass cutting operations as required, using equipment such as tractors, mowers, and strimmers, in accordance with the long grass policy to maintain navigational aids.
  10. Use weed-killing chemicals and equipment (qualification required).
  11. Carry out snow clearance both airside and landside during winter operations using equipment like gritters and snow ploughs.
  12. Undertake any other tasks reasonably requested within the responsibilities of this post.
