Job Description:

Being a Construction Planner (Airfields and Civils) at London Gatwick, you'll see the impact of your work on the airport and passengers. This role offers unique insights and a central position in providing planning services for various projects.

From facilities expansion to security upgrades and runway resurfacing, no two days are the same at Gatwick, offering diverse projects and a dynamic environment for continuous learning.

To support your journey, you'll receive development opportunities to grow. London Gatwick's Construction Department manages several programme and project teams and technical support functions, responsible for delivering the airport CIP and strategic growth over the next 5 years, including critical infrastructure projects across the campus.

What is the role?

London Gatwick is evolving rapidly, and this is an exciting opportunity for a Planner to contribute to building Gatwick's future infrastructure within a high-performing team.

The Planner will work across all project stages, managing schedules for projects up to approximately £50m, and provide comprehensive planning services. Responsibilities include schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, recovery planning, and providing technical guidance on Work Breakdown Structure, Cost Breakdown Structure, and Resource Loading.

What will you do?
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules with milestones and monitoring activities, coordinating work sequences with the overall project plan.
  • Monitor schedules, identify critical activities, and update functions for various disciplines or specialties.
  • Develop installation rates, review contractor schedules, and provide recommendations.
  • Evaluate quantities, staffing, and schedule logic, and prepare progress and performance reports.
  • Assess contract programmes, review quantity logs, and analyze contractor schedules against baseline, identifying critical path activities and variances.
Do you have what we are looking for?
  • Degree/Post-Grad in construction or related field.
  • Approximately three years' experience as a planner on projects over £10m is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 and MS Excel.
  • Experience in planning infrastructure projects in operational environments is a plus.
  • Skills in quantity take-offs, statistical analysis, and computer operations.
  • Knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up processes.
  • Understanding of financial and mathematical reports.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Awareness of the airport environment is advantageous.
  • Personal resilience and adaptability in ambiguous situations.
