From facility expansions to security upgrades and runway resurfacing, no two days are the same at London Gatwick. The variety of projects and the live environment will keep you challenged and continuously learning.

To support your growth, you'll be provided with the necessary development opportunities. London Gatwick's Construction Department includes several programme and project teams, along with technical support functions. It is responsible for delivering the airport's Capital Investment Programme (CIP) and strategic growth over the next five years, encompassing campus-wide projects to deliver critical infrastructure.

What is the role?

The Planner will operate across all stages of project processes, from early planning to completion, on projects valued up to approximately £50m. The role involves providing a full planning service, managing schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery planning. Additionally, the Planner will offer technical support and guidance, including Work Breakdown Structure, Cost Breakdown Structure, and Resource Loading.

What will you do?

  • Develop and maintain a robust delivery schedule with clear milestones and monitoring activities, supporting project schedules and defining activity sequences, including interdisciplinary constraints.
  • Monitor schedules to identify critical activities, update functions, and assist with schedule updates and monitoring requirements.
  • Apply installation rates to quantity take-offs and developed quantities, review contractor schedules, and provide recommendations.
  • Evaluate quantities, staffing, and schedule logic for specific disciplines, and prepare progress and performance reports.
  • Manage contract programme assessments, including acceptance/rejection, assessing compensation events, and delay analysis.
  • Review quantity logs for accuracy and assist in developing job hour expenditure estimates.
  • Review contractor schedules against the baseline, identify critical path activities, and analyze performance variances.

Do you have what we are looking for?

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in construction or a related field.
  • Approximately three years of experience as a planner on projects over £10m is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 and MS Excel.
  • Experience planning infrastructure projects in operational environments is a plus.
  • Skills in quantity take-offs, statistical analysis, and computer operations.
  • Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up processes.
  • Knowledge of financial reports and NEC contracts.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Awareness of the airport environment is beneficial.
  • Resilience and ability to operate within ambiguity.
