Job description

Morson Technical Services is currently seeking an Aircraft Structural Inspector within WBM at RNAS Yeovilton on a permanent basis.

ABOUT

Our Wildcat Base Maintenance team carries out 300 hourly zonal maintenance on the fleet of 62 Army and Navy Wildcat Helicopters. Over a 17-week program, teams strip, clean, inspect, and rectify the aircraft to return them to the front-line squadrons. Our qualified engineers work a day routine, fault find, replace components as required, and ground run the aircraft prior to deployment.

Operating within a MAOS Part 145 framework, the organization maintains a professional and diligent approach, prioritizing airworthiness and health and safety.

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND TASKS

1. Hold authorizations to the minimum level required by WMS, including third signature within your trade group as detailed in OP 1103 and IAW individual Record of Engineering Authorisations (REA).
2. Maintain technical currency and authorization through training and reading disseminated information.
3. Serve as the SME on aircraft structural repairs, providing guidance as needed.
4. Carry out aircraft structural repairs according to published procedures and instructions.
5. Provide technical guidance on repair instructions.
6. Complete GOLDesp procedures IAW Wildcat Maintenance Support WMS OP 408 and J.A.P (D) 100A publications.
7. Conduct damage surveys as directed.
8. Manage and control support activities within your area, including bay husbandry, ensuring tasking units have all spares and tooling prior to tasking.
9. Observe authorized tool control procedures (WMS OP 502) during structural repairs and related tasks.
10. Ensure the safety and welfare of all personnel during duty hours.
11. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
12. Operate and maintain AGE and hangar facilities as directed.
13. Complete GOLDesp procedures for all aircraft work as per WMS OP 408, J.A.P 100A, and MAM-P.
14. Sign and coordinate all aircraft documentation up to your individual REA authorizations.
15. Perform any other aircraft or support tasks as directed by the manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

1. Served an aeronautical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent military trade training.
2. Served or operated as a Lead Repair Engineer within a repair organization, including composite repair activity.
3. Meet the minimum criteria as specified in WMS OP 1103.
4. Have a comprehensive understanding of Military aircraft engineering and documentation.
5. Understand military aircraft operations in both base and field locations.
6. Be current and competent in the use of GOLDesp.
