Gama Aviation is a very reputable Business Aviation company, working on both fixed wing and rotary aircrafts. We are continuing to grow and expand, with exciting contracts being secured; we have recently been selected to be an Authorised Service Centre by Embraer, who set an understandably high bar to become part of their global network.

As we continue to expand, we are recruiting for an Aircraft Painter / Fitter to support the hangar. Your primary role will be preparing and painting aircraft flight control surfaces and sections of the fuselage. You will also support the teams as a maintenance fitter, performing activities such as panelling/de-panelling and basic maintenance activities.

You will be trained to read and understand drawings, engineering layouts, and procedures to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to specified requirements.

About us:
Gama Aviation is a hugely diverse business that offers much more than perhaps its name would suggest. Yes, we fly but we also save lives, provide mission critical intelligence, and build systems that deliver decisive advantage.

With operations in the UK, Jersey, Europe, and the Middle East, a career with us can offer travel, personal growth opportunities, and the ability for long-term progression in a fast-paced and dynamic service industry.

Responsibilities:

Painting:

  • Prepare, paint, and finish coating to aircraft parts and assemblies.
  • Touch-up paint where required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve operational processes and internal customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain high standards of 5's / housekeeping, while ensuring safe working practices.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and determine the need for adjustments or repairs.
  • Mix paint as per job specification and mask parts for preparation.
  • Spray and blend in sections of the fuselage that have been removed for maintenance when they are re-installed.

Fitting:

  • Demonstrate ability for simple corrosion removal.
  • Carry out simple troubleshooting on turbo prop & jet aircraft.
  • Application of hydraulic power and completion of a hydraulic service.
  • Assist or complete wheel changes.
  • Apply ground power to aircraft.
  • Removals & installations of flying controls and removal of damaged fasteners.
  • Carry out seat removal / installation.
  • Jacking & levelling of aircraft types relevant at MRO.
  • Carry out emergency equipment checks.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:

Essential:

  • Relevant experience working in a paint shop is essential.
  • Able to perform visual inspections.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge and experience of working to aircraft specification for surface treatments.
  • The ability to use measuring equipment.
  • Must be able to utilise and maintain painting equipment.
  • Must be physically capable of wearing a respirator. Training will be given for the correct usage and care of respirators.
  • Ability to assist or complete wheel changes.
  • Competent in opening and closing of panels & their inspection.
  • Understanding and servicing of aircraft water systems.
  • Experience working in a component workshop / wheel bay to understand basics of wheels / brakes and associated paperwork.
  • Able to use technical manuals and identify applicable data for task instructions or illustrated parts catalogue interpretation (IPC).

In addition to a Competitive Salary, we will offer you:

  • Great work-life balance with a 5-5-4 shift pattern.
  • Competitive Group Pension Scheme.
  • Comprehensive Life Assurance.
  • Comprehensive Income Protection.
  • Comprehensive Travel Insurance.
  • Comprehensive Private Healthcare (after successful passing of probation).
  • Free Car Parking.
  • 2 Paid Volunteering Days each calendar year (subject to line manager approval).
  • Investment in Training, Qualifications, and Professional Development.
