The Role: AC Engineer

The purpose of the AC Engineer role is to support the Technical Supervisor and/or the Area Operations Manager (AOM) by providing reactive and planned preventative maintenance services to building systems at various sites, following established procedures and safety practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems and perform PPM routines as assigned.
  • Ensure all repairs and installations comply with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain calibrated test equipment that meets current standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments for maintenance tasks to ensure safety.
  • Diagnose faults and repair equipment using manuals and drawings.
  • Update Site Log Books as per procedures.
  • Generate reports for the Technical Supervisor.
  • Manage stock levels of spares.
  • Participate in an Emergency Call Out service as per the Out of Hours Rota.
  • Perform duties aligned with BT Facilities Services standards and directives.
  • Undertake the Control of Works Authorised Person (AP) role and support other APs and CPs.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet operational goals.
  • Manage tasks efficiently within short-term planning.
  • Engage with stakeholders regarding work efforts and deliverables.
  • Support health and safety policies and standards.
  • Oversee activities of others to ensure quality and deadlines are met.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and work within budgets.
Person Specification:
  • Completed an apprenticeship or equivalent training in air conditioning and refrigeration, with practical and theoretical competence.
  • Hold a City & Guilds 2079 Level 2 Award in F Gas and ODS Regulations: Category 1 or equivalent.
  • Desirable qualifications include a Level 3 NVQ diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or equivalent, along with certifications like PASMA, IPAF, Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness, Confined Space Working, and Roof Working.
