Job summary

Saab UK is seeking an experienced modelling and simulation engineer to support the Air Combat Simulation team in Bedfordshire. You will model aircraft and aerospace systems, validate and verify results, and develop tools to translate data formats.

You will collaborate in a small team delivering customer-focused modelling and simulation support and integrate models into distributed simulations. The role requires MATLAB/Simulink expertise, experience in C/C++, and knowledge of flight dynamics,

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or related field.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow.
• Experience auto-coding to C/C++ and DLLs.
• Strong background in flight dynamics and aircraft performance.
• Familiarity with RF/EO/IR sensor signatures.
• Knowledge of Earth coordinate systems (WGS-84).
• Experience with distributed simulation (DIS/HLA) and source control (Git).
• Ability to solve optimisation problems and integrate models into system-of-systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop requirements from initial customer brief.
• Build models and analysis tools to meet customer requirements.
• Update, debug and V&V models and simulation tools.
• Analyse results from model integration and simulation development.
• Develop tools to translate data file formats used within the community.
• Develop Simulink models and auto-code to C/C++ and DLL.
• Integrate models into system-of-systems and distributed simulations.
• Conduct simulation development, testing and result analysis.
• Extend distributed simulation capabilities and functionality.
• Sanity check model performance against references and estimates.
• Validate and Verify model performance against requirements.
• Review documentation for technical accuracy and quality.
• Investigate new modelling tools for customer requirements.
• Generate user guides, interface control docs and validation reports.
• Report issues with third-party models and simulations.
