AI is changing how we live and work, but not everyone has had the opportunity or confidence to benefit from it.
Barnsley College is looking for three enthusiastic AI Upskilling Community & Digital Skills Trainers to help change that. As part of an exciting Barnsley-wide AI upskilling project, you will take practical, accessible AI and digital skills learning directly into communities and workplaces across Barnsley.
Working with adults from a wide range of backgrounds and starting points, you will help people who may never have used AI before understand how tools such as Microsoft Copilot can support everyday life and work.
You will deliver engaging taster sessions, demonstrations and short learning activities covering communication, summarisation, planning and administration, while promoting the safe, responsible and ethical use of AI.
The programme is deliberately designed as a low-barrier offer, delivered through community locations, workplaces and a mobile training unit rather than relying solely on conventional classroom provision.
You will adapt your delivery for adults with different levels of digital confidence, provide supportive information and guidance, and help participants progress into further digital and AI learning.
Alongside teaching and learner engagement, you will complete enrolment and attendance records, gather evaluation evidence and learner feedback, develop accessible resources, and work closely with College colleagues, employers and community partners to ensure effective delivery across the borough.
You will be a friendly and approachable trainer who can make digital and AI concepts clear, practical and relevant without unnecessary technical jargon.
Confident using generative AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, you will understand both their opportunities and limitations and be able to reinforce the importance of privacy, security, responsible use and checking AI-generated outputs.
Experience of delivering training, workshops, demonstrations or skills support to adults is essential, together with the ability to support people who have different levels of digital confidence. You will be organised, flexible and comfortable working across community and employer locations, building positive relationships while maintaining accurate learner and project records.
