Job Title: AI Solutions Engineer (Java Focus)

Location: Remote (UK/EU Preferred) with occasional face-to-face meetings

Reporting to: Chief Technology Officer

About the Role:

We are looking for an AI Solutions Engineer specializing in the Java stack. In this role, you’ll work end-to-end—from collaborating with product managers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams on defining requirements, to employing AI tools that streamline coding, testing, and deployment. You’ll develop secure, scalable solutions using Java-based frameworks and ensure continuous integration and delivery through modern DevOps practices.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Requirements Definition & Stakeholder Collaboration
2. Engage with product managers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to clarify business needs.
3. Turn those needs into specific technical tasks and development milestones.
4. Incorporate AI-based productivity tools for rapid prototyping, code generation, and automated testing.
5. Stay updated on AI best practices and bring innovative solutions to the Java ecosystem.
6. Architect and build backend services using Java-based frameworks (Spring Boot, Jakarta EE, etc.).
7. Ensure code quality, reliability, and performance across all layers.
8. Work at least one relational database (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MariaDB) to handle data storage, queries, and optimization.
9. Embrace best practices for security, scalability, and fault tolerance.
10. Implement CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code.
11. Leverage cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to deploy solutions in a cost-effective, secure manner.

Technical Leadership & Continuous Improvement:

1. Act as an authority on AI-assisted Java development for teams and stakeholders.
2. Champion best practices and continuous improvement within the engineering organization.

Required Skills & Experience:

1. Java Proficiency: Expertise in Java frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot), plus exposure to modern front-end technologies is advantageous.
2. AI/ML Tools Familiarity: Experience using AI-driven development and testing tools.
3. Database Management: Proven skill in at least one major relational database, with a preference for open-source solutions.
4. Cloud & DevOps Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud providers, microservices, container orchestration, and DevOps pipelines.
5. Analytical Mindset: Ability to solve complex, ambiguous problems, quickly iterating on prototypes and final solutions.
