Job summary

ScottishPower’s Digital, Planning & Culture (DP&C) leads technology and cultural services across the organisation. The role focuses on AI strategy, architecture and delivery, shaping how AI is deployed at scale.

You'll lead design across Generative AI, LLMs, NLP, CV and ML, ensuring governance, security and regulatory compliance while partnering with product owners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Location: Glasgow – hybrid working (2-3 days in the office) Salary: £59-74K (plus up to 15% bonus, private healthcare and double-match pension) Permanent, Full Time

As data and artificial intelligence become increasingly important to business success, technical leadership is playing a critical role in shaping the future of IT.

Responsibilities

• Lead solution design, defining technical approaches and influencing architecture decisions across a range of AI technologies, including Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision and Machine Learning.
• Oversee the development of scalable AI applications, APIs and microservices while ensuring solutions meet governance, security and operational requirements.
• Work closely with product owners and stakeholders, translate business challenges into practical AI solutions.
• Define value propositions, success measures and delivery roadmaps while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and technology strategy.
• Contribute to the evolution of ScottishPower's AI engineering practices, establishing reusable patterns, improving MLOps capabilities and supporting the adoption of modern cloud-native architectures.
• Ensure AI model deployment, monitoring, automation, CI/CD pipelines and responsible AI practices that ensure transparency, fairness and regulatory compliance.

What you’ll bring

• Significant experience in software engineering, AI and cloud technologies, with a proven track record of delivering AI solutions at scale.
• Strong expertise in Python and modern machine learning frameworks, alongside experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
• Knowledge of LLM frameworks, RAG architectures, MLOps tooling, container technologies and enterprise data platforms.
• Effective communicator who can influence both technical and business stakeholders.
• Comfortable leading discussions, challenging proposals, managing ambiguity and building trusted relationships across complex organisations.
