You will partner with architects, product owners, and delivery teams to ensure scalable, secure outcomes that align with business objectives across the Iberdrola Group.
You will shape AI practices, deploy ML models, manage MLOps, and advocate responsible AI across cloud-native architectures. Occasional international travel may be required.
AI Solution Lead Engineer Location: Glasgow – hybrid working (2-3 days in the office) Salary: £59-74K (plus up to 15% bonus, private healthcare and double-match pension) Permanent, Full Time
Manager, you will help drive the design, development and delivery of enterprise-scale AI solutions. You will work across a diverse portfolio of data, AI and technology initiatives, partnering with architects, product owners, suppliers and delivery teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure and aligned with business objectives. This role is suited to a technology leader with a strong background in designing and implementing production-grade AI solutions. You will combine hands‑on engineering expertise with strategic technical leadership, helping transform innovative AI concepts into robust enterprise services that deliver measurable value. You will play a key role in shaping ScottishPower’s AI landscape. From supporting AI Lab experimentation through to production deployment, you will ensure high engineering standards, technical consistency and operational readiness across multiple initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include leading solution design, defining technical approaches and influencing architecture decisions across a range of AI technologies, including Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision and Machine Learning. You will oversee the development of scalable AI applications, APIs and microservices while ensuring solutions meet governance, security and operational requirements. Working closely with product owners and stakeholders, you will translate business challenges into practical AI solutions. You will help define value propositions, success measures and delivery roadmaps while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and technology strategy. You will also contribute to the evolution of ScottishPower’s AI engineering practices, establishing reusable patterns, improving MLOps capabilities and supporting the adoption of modern cloud‑native architectures. This includes AI model deployment, monitoring, automation, CI/CD pipelines and responsible AI practices that ensure transparency, fairness and regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will bring significant experience in software engineering, AI and cloud technologies, with a proven track record of delivering AI solutions at scale. You will have strong expertise in Python and modern machine learning frameworks, alongside experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure. Knowledge of LLM frameworks, RAG architectures, MLOps tooling, container technologies and enterprise data platforms will be highly valued. Beyond technical capability, you will be an effective communicator who can influence both technical and business stakeholders. You will be comfortable leading discussions, challenging proposals, managing ambiguity and building trusted relationships across complex organisations. As a recognised technical leader, you will help shape the future of AI at ScottishPower while working closely with colleagues across the wider Iberdrola Group. This role may involve occasional international travel and offers the opportunity to contribute to strategic digital transformation initiatives that support the transition to a smarter, more data‑driven energy business.
As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we’ll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%. At ScottishPower, we believe it’s the little things we do in life that make a big difference.
