Job summary

Birmingham City University seeks a high-calibre AI Software Engineer (KTP Associate) to deliver a 24-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership with its ABCE department and PBL Care Limited. The role is based onsite at PBL Care in Birmingham and involves collaborating with leading academics and the operational team to build an AI-enabled platform for social-care planning and delivery.

Qualifications

• 2:1 degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Master’s degree is advantageous for the role.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements elicitation, feasibility analysis and technical planning.
• Design secure, modular platform architecture, data layer, APIs and dashboards.
• Develop geospatial intelligent matching and dynamic replanning.
• Develop ML models for workforce retention and attrition-risk prediction.
• Build NLP/LLM pipeline for care notes to structured intelligence.
• Implement cybersecurity, access control and GDPR-aligned data protection.
• Integrate web and mobile solution with existing systems and cloud services.
• Plan and conduct tests and support production deployment.
• Train and mentor staff, produce documentation and sustain internal capability.
• Support reporting, impact evaluation, publications and exploitation planning.
