Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking an AI Software Engineer to join a senior team in a hybrid, contract capacity. The role focuses on safe adoption of AI-assisted development within a large enterprise, spanning software engineering, AWS cloud platforms, developer tooling, security, DevOps, and AI engineering.

You will help define controls, tooling, governance, and engineering practices to enable GitHub Copilot and other AI-powered tools at scale.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and implement safe approaches for adopting AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot.

• Help define standards across development environments, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.

Contract | Hybrid Working

We're seeking a senior AI Software Engineer with a strong software engineering background to help shape the safe and effective adoption of AI-assisted development within a large-scale enterprise environment.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering, AWS cloud platforms, developer tooling, security, DevOps, and AI engineering. You'll help define the controls, tooling, governance, and engineering practices required to enable the use of technologies such as GitHub Copilot and other AI-powered development tools at scale.

Working as part of a cross-functional engineering team, you'll combine hands-on development, technical research, prototyping, and platform engineering to improve developer productivity while maintaining security, governance, and operational standards.

The Role

Essential Skills

• Strong hands-on Software Engineering background
• Experience developing applications and engineering solutions within AWS environments
• Solid understanding of AWS services, cloud-native architectures, and developer tooling
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps tooling, and software delivery practices

Desirable Experience

• Experience implementing or supporting GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools
• Knowledge of secure development environments, software governance, and policy enforcement
• Experience with containerisation technologies and developer platforms
• Exposure to telemetry, analytics, monitoring, and reporting pipelines
• Experience working within complex enterprise or regulated environments
• Data engineering, analytics, or insight generation experience
• Understanding of platform engineering and developer experience (DevEx) principles
