Job description

An AI Security Engineer is required to join a leading international organisation based in Aberdeen to help shape how AI technologies are adopted, secured and governed across the business (fully remote – must be UK based).

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong cybersecurity background and an interest/experience in AI to play a key role in developing security controls, managing emerging risks and ensuring new technologies can be adopted safely and responsibly.

You’ll work across Information Security, IT, Data, Legal and wider business teams, combining hands‑on security engineering with AI governance, risk assessment and stakeholder engagement.

The Company

They’re a leading global organisation operating in a complex, technology‑driven industry, with an international presence and a strong focus on innovation. As AI adoption continues to develop across the business, they’re investing in the security, governance and controls needed to support this safely and effectively.

The Role

This is a broad role sitting at the intersection of cybersecurity, AI and governance. You’ll help establish the frameworks, policies and technical controls that allow the organisation to make the most of emerging AI technologies without compromising security, privacy or compliance.

You’ll assess new AI tools and platforms, including technologies such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, identifying potential risks and translating these into practical security measures.

Working closely with technical specialists and business stakeholders, you’ll help embed security into AI initiatives from the outset, while supporting wider cybersecurity operations, incident response and continuous improvement.

It’s a great opportunity for an experienced security professional to develop their expertise in AI security and have a genuine influence on how emerging technologies are adopted across a global organisation.

What you’ll be doing
  • Designing, implementing and maintaining security controls across AI platforms, cloud services, enterprise applications and infrastructure.
  • Evaluating AI tools and solutions, identifying security, privacy, compliance and operational risks before recommending appropriate controls.
  • Developing AI governance frameworks, policies, standards and guidelines for the secure and responsible use of AI.
  • Assessing emerging AI security threats, including prompt injection, data leakage, model security and AI supply chain risks.
  • Working with cloud, data and software engineering teams to embed security throughout AI development and deployment.
  • Conducting security assessments, threat modelling and architecture reviews across AI and wider technology solutions.
  • Keeping up to date with emerging AI capabilities, vulnerabilities and threats, identifying gaps in existing controls and recommending improvements.
  • Working with technical and non-technical stakeholders to communicate risks clearly and support the safe adoption of AI across the business.
What They’re Looking For
  • Strong experience in a cybersecurity engineering, security operations or security architecture role.
  • Experience working with AI technologies, generative AI platforms, machine learning environments or AI governance and security controls.
  • A solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, frameworks and best practices, such as NIST, ISO 27001 and GDPR.
  • Knowledge of AI-specific security risks, including prompt injection, data privacy, model security and AI supply chain vulnerabilities.
  • Experience securing enterprise technology platforms, ideally across the Microsoft ecosystem, Azure or other major cloud environments.
  • An understanding of cloud security architecture and the controls required to protect enterprise applications and data.
  • A genuine interest in emerging AI technologies and how they can be adopted securely.
The Offer

A competitive salary and benefits package is on offer, alongside remote working (occasional travel to Aberdeen will be required).

The position is permanent and fully remote, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the organisation’s AI strategy while helping protect its systems, data and people as adoption grows.
