Job summary

The role requires a PhD or equivalent with strong publications or industry experience in 3D/4D reconstruction, Gaussian splatting, and deep learning using PyTorch.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field with 2+ years of industry or post-PhD research experience, or a Master with 5+ years of industry experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in 3D/4D reconstruction, novel-view synthesis or Gaussian splatting; first-author publications or industry experience.
• Knowledge of human-inspired image/video quality metrics.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Working experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate novel algorithms for 3D and 4D reconstruction, exploring compression for 3D/4D scenes.
• Translate research into working prototypes, optimizing runtime and power consumption.
• Characterise trade-offs between reconstruction algorithms (model size, training time, rendering time, quality, generalisability).
• Develop metrics for quality of 3D/4D reconstructions based on vision science and human visibility.
• Collaborate with researchers within the group, other company labs, and external researchers in universities.
