Job summary

Imperial College London’s Computational Cardiac Imaging Group at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences seeks a Research Assistant to help apply AI to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy using 3D imaging, genetics and multi-omics. The role is full-time, hybrid in London, with a minimum of three in-person days per week.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, develop reproducible code, handle sensitive patient data, and contribute to manuscripts and reports for the British Heart Foundation.

Qualifications

• Masters (MSc) degree in a biomedical discipline, or equivalent research experience.
• Experience with Python and/or R and statistics/data analysis.
• Careful, well-organised data handling and reproducibility.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
• Desirable: experience with machine-learning, medical image analysis, or biomedical datasets.

Responsibilities

• Process, analyse and quality-control large-scale cardiac imaging data, including machine-learning derived 3D cardiac models.
• Integrate imaging, genetic, multi-omic and longitudinal clinical data into analysis-ready datasets.
• Apply and help develop statistical and machine-learning models to characterise disease heterogeneity and predict patient risk.
• Write clean, well-documented code and contribute to shared analysis pipelines and open-source tools.
• Present findings at group meetings and, where appropriate, external conferences, and contribute to manuscripts and reports (including for the British Heart Foundation).
• Handle sensitive patient data responsibly and in line with information-governance and ethical requirements.
