Job summary

Bird & Bird is seeking a practising lawyer with a deep interest in AI and legal technology to shape the firm’s LegalTech and AI direction. You’ll blend legal expertise with technology to embed AI tools into our operations and client services.

You will join the LegalTech and AI Practice, working with Partners and Knowledge Development Lawyers to deliver innovative solutions, framework content, and training across the firm. This is a hybrid role in a forward‑looking, globally connected firm.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with at least one year's experience in private practice.
• Demonstrable interest in and knowledge of AI and legal technology, including familiarity with AI-assisted legal tools and platforms such as Legora.
• An aptitude for using technology and be highly computer literate, including MS Office and database software.
• Knowledge of relational databases, content management systems, and AI functionality.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Experience with project delivery, including requirements gathering, process mapping, testing, and training.
• Comfortable facilitating workshops and training sessions for professional audiences.
• Prior experience in a LegalTech, innovation, or knowledge management role within a law firm or legal team.
• Experience with AI tools applied to legal workflows (e.g. contract review, due diligence, document drafting, or research).
• Familiarity with client-facing technology platforms and portal products.
• Understanding of metadata, taxonomies, ontologies and knowledge graphs for data classification.

Responsibilities

• Combine law, technology, knowledge management and AI to develop innovative legal tech solutions.
• Embed AI specialists with knowledge of legal workflows to improve adoption and sharing within the firm.
• Collaborate with intranet editors to optimize content for search and AI access.
• Deliver LegalTech and Innovation projects and trial new systems/features.
• Grow precedents and know-how in central databases and increase tool visibility across practice areas.
• Contribute to training, inductions, and communications to promote responsible AI use.
• Provide usage reports and analytics of knowledge systems.
• Attend vendor user groups and supplier meetings.
• Design AI training sessions and client-facing AI workshops.
• Act as a change agent to identify new use cases and improve delivery of legal work.
• Develop training materials, playbooks and best practice guidance.
• Foster a culture of curiosity, experimentation and continuous improvement.
