Qualifications

• Experience designing distributed services and APIs, with trade-offs explained (sync vs async, consistency, failure modes, scaling).
• Owns observability: instruments, traces, metrics to diagnose issues in production.
• Strong performance and caching judgment, understanding cache invalidation and consistency.
• Secure design: authentication, authorization, secrets handling, input validation, OWASP Top 10.
• Solid fundamentals in design patterns, clean code, and SOLID principles.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver features with sound architectural decisions that support the roadmap, not just the next ticket.
• Own services in production: instrument them well, understand behavior under load, diagnose issues when they arise.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects and product owners to shape requirements and weigh trade-offs.
• Raise the engineering bar by reviewing AI- and human-written code for correctness, security, performance and maintainability.
