Base pay range

AI/ML Software Engineer – Audio, Video & Computer Vision

A brilliant opportunity for a Machine Learning-focused Software Engineer with experience in AI, Audio, and Computer Vision to join an exciting start-up in London, currently in stealth mode developing pioneering technology in security and media analysis. Joining a company founded by experts with a proven track record offers the chance to work in an innovative environment with a cutting-edge tech stack.

This early-stage opportunity includes equity in the business and the chance to shape product development during this R&D phase.

Location: Central London, UK – mostly onsite (4–5 days per week)

Salary: £55,000 – £90,000 per annum + equity

Requirements for AI/ML Software Engineer

• At least 2 years of commercial experience in AI software development, with exposure to computer vision, audio processing, or generative AI systems
• PhD level education or experience in a start-up environment
• Strong academic background, ideally a 2.1 or First in STEM from a leading university, with strong A-Level results
• Proficiency in Python, C++, Go, and AWS; experience with cloud-native systems, edge ML, or audio/video analysis tools is a plus
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Interest in working in a fast-paced R&D start-up environment

Responsibilities

• Developing prototypes within a growing R&D team
• Designing and developing AI, computer vision, video & audio software
• Working with generative AI tools and prompt engineering for media processing
• Collaborating on systems for anomaly detection, audio transcription, and alerts
• Building infrastructure for analyzing streaming audio/video data at scale
• Optimizing code for performance and maintainability
• Contributing to continuous improvement processes
