Job summary

Roke, a leading technology and engineering company, seeks an AI/ML/Computer Vision engineer to deliver novel, deployable research solutions. You will take a leading technical role within engineering teams handling small early-stage research projects and algorithmic components of larger programs.

You will provide technical expertise across AI/ML and CV disciplines, including 2D/3D vision, RL, LLMs, and NLP. You will work hands-on to solve complex customer challenges and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Proven AI/ML/CV R&D experience with detection, classification, segmentation, or related tasks.
• Experience translating academic research into deployable solutions.
• Strong software engineering knowledge and agile team leadership.
• Proficient in Python, JavaScript, and Rust; familiar with MLOps and end-to-end model development.
• Eligible for SC clearance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver novel AI/ML/CV solutions to complex customer problems.
• Lead technical work in early-stage research projects and algorithm components.

Job description

Salary: £26,000 - 54,000 per year

Requirements:

• Proven experience in AI/ML/Computer Vision R&D, such as detection, classification, segmentation, forward/backward projection, measurement, reinforcement learning, NLP, and Large Language Models.
• Significant experience conceiving novel applications of AI/ML techniques, adapting and applying academic research, and maturing capabilities toward deployable real-world solutions.
• Strong understanding of software engineering and experience working in and leading agile teams delivering complex work at pace.
• Experience developing with widely used software tools and languages across algorithm and application development, such as Python, JavaScript, and Rust.
• Experience with a modern MLOps and CI/CD software engineering lifecycle, including data management and augmentation, end-to-end model development, performance analysis, and Test Driven Development.
• Eligible to achieve SC clearance.
• Desirable: experience in Industrial Inspection, particularly in an Aerospace or high-value manufacturing setting.
• Desirable: experience combining 2D/3D vision with modern 3D rendering techniques, such as 3D rendering or reconstruction, point clouds, and/or data simulation.
