Job Title: AI Governance Lead

Location: Birmingham

As part of theAutomation Platformsfunction this Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance Lead rolewill play a pivotal part in ensuring our environments meet evolving requirements aroundrisk, stability, and regulatory compliance. You will join an established team and take the lead on key deliverables that enhance theArtificial Intelligence solutions and support responsible AI practices across the organization.

As part of this role, you will be accountable for ensuring that AI systems are developed and deployed responsibly. You’ll serve as the governance bridge translating technical complexity into clear, auditable documentation, aligning with regulatory standards like the European Union (EU) AI Act, and ensuring transparency through regular engagement with auditors and oversight bodies.

Your key responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison between the AI team and internal/external governance forums
  • Prepare, maintain, and present documentation for AI governance meetings. Translate technical artifacts into clear, auditable documentation
  • Interface with auditors to ensure transparency and compliance of AI systems
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for AI use cases, models, and processes
  • Ensure alignment with the EU AI Act and other relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Support the development of internal policies and best practices for responsible AI

Your skills and experience

  • Solid understanding of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science concepts
  • Strong knowledge of the EU AI Act and other AI-related regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working with auditors, governance bodies, or regulatory compliance teams
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to translate technical content into accessible formats
  • A degree from an accredited institution with a focus in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Comfortable working with Agile Software Development Life Cycle processes and tools
