Job summary

Tencent's Interactive Entertainment Group (IEG) is seeking a hands-on designer to help shape the next generation of AI-Native games. You will design and prototype AI-driven gameplay systems, balancing mechanisms, and player experiences.

We value deep understanding of AI concepts, comfort with fast iteration, and the ability to transform ideas into playable demos using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Midjourney. Collaboration in a small agile team is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a passion for games and broad knowledge of different game genres.
• Strong understanding of AI concepts (LLMs, generative models, agents, procedural generation).
• Hands-on ability and willingness to experiment and build quickly.
• Experience using AI tools in creative or technical workflows (ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Copilot).
• Ability to think critically about how AI changes game design, not just production efficiency.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving, ambiguity-driven environment.
• Good communication skills and ability to express design ideas clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design and prototype AI-Native gameplay systems, mechanics, and experiences.
• Explore how LLMs, generative AI, agents, and procedural systems can be used as core game design elements.
• Rapidly build and iterate game prototypes (from concept to playable demos).
• Use AI tools to assist in: Game design ideation and balancing; Narrative, dialogue, and world-building; Prototyping, scripting, and content generation.
• Collaborate closely with other members in a small, highly iterative team.
• Refine prototypes into more polished designs through playtesting and feedback.
