Job summary

Calyptus, recruiting on behalf of a client, is looking for an experienced machine learning engineer to design and productionise recommendation and personalisation systems for a consumer platform in London.

You will move models from experiment to production, decide impactful signals, and collaborate with a Data Engineer in a fast, autonomous small team. You’ll apply agentic and LLM-based approaches where they improve outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and productionising recommendation systems for apps or websites.
• Strong machine learning and data science foundation.
• Experience with consumer platforms where behavioural data is central.
• Ability to operate as an IC in a small, autonomous team.
• Familiarity with agentic tooling and modern AI approaches.

Responsibilities

• Design and productionise recommendation engines and personalisation algorithms for a consumer-facing platform.
• Take models from experiment to production, and own their performance once they're there.
• Decide what signals matter, and work with the Data Engineer to get them modelled and available.
• Run experiments and measure real impact on user behaviour, not just offline metrics.
• Apply modern agentic and LLM-based approaches where they genuinely improve outcomes.
