Job Description

About the Role

Turner and Townsend is seeking an AI Engineer to lead the development of our service offering within the Data & Digital team. This role blends deep technical expertise with a consultancy mindset. Ideal for someone who can design and deliver AI solutions while advising clients on how to unlock strategic value through data and emerging technologies.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping how AI is applied across our Real Estate segment from strategic planning and design to construction, handover, and operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI solutions tailored to client challenges in the built environment.

  • Provide strategic AI advisory services to clients, helping them understand opportunities, risks, and implementation pathways.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to embed AI into Turner & Townsend’s consultancy offerings, including cost, programme, risk, and asset management.

  • Develop prototypes, pilots, and scalable AI models for use cases such as generative design, predictive maintenance, ESG tracking, and digital twins.

  • Evaluate and integrate third-party AI platforms and tools into client environments.

  • Support business development through thought leadership, client workshops, and proposal contributions.

  • Stay current with AI trends, ethical considerations, and regulatory developments relevant to construction and infrastructure.

Required skills and experience

  • Proven experience in AI/ML engineering, with hands-on development using Python specifically with packages such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.

  • Strong understanding of consultancy delivery models and client engagement.

  • Experience applying AI in real-world use cases such as NLP, computer vision, predictive analytics, or simulation.

  • Ability to integrate AI solutions into organisational workflows.

  • Familiarity with data standards and digital delivery frameworks (e.g., ISO 19650, BIM, CDEs) is a plus.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business value and strategic outcomes.

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • Experience in Real Estate, or public sector programmes.

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and MLOps practices.

  • Understanding of ESG, sustainability metrics, and digital transformation in the built environment.
